Women's March NYC 2018
Most people do not realise that a step has a voice. So, just imagine how loud 10,413 steps can shout. That’s how many footprints I left on the streets of Manhattan’s streets today during the 2018 NYC Women’s March.
This was my first protest ever and I have never felt so important as a human being. The room was full of love and acceptance everywhere. Every individual person walked in unity regardless on what they identified as, what is in between there legs, their race, their religion, or their sexuality.
And what makes this event even more special for me is that I registered to vote!! And If you are 18 and over you should too, because your voice is extremely important.
As I was marching, with all of signs surrounding me, I was reminded on what exactly I was walking for. Thousands of people were in the same area and going the same direction but we all were fighting for different reasons. I have many reasons but hare a few of the reasons why I marched:
- Everyone should be held accountable for and suffer the consequences if they have ever assaulted anyone sexually. Also, I want people need people to understand that you can be sexually harassed by anyone, not just men.
- I believe that women should have the right to do as they wish with their bodies, in every kind of way. From being as sexually active as they want, wearing whatever they choose, who they choose to give their body to, change their body however they want, and choosing what to do if they get pregnant.
- This world should be a safe place for everyone to feel comfortable about speaking up about something without being silenced.
- For people to understand that stereotype, pressure, or even having a certain set of genitalia does not define who you are.
- I marched for people being judged, discriminated against, and even profiled for the color of their skin. Also, to bring awareness to innocent people's lives being taken away from them and not receiving any justice for it.
- I want people to feel like their masculinity or femininity is jeopardized for doing what they loved.
- Lastly, how is Trump not impeached already.
